Surplus Service recognized by Department of Rehabilitation

Surplus Service • September 13, 2023

Surplus Service is proud to be one of the few vocational rehabilitation agencies working directly with the Department of Rehabilitation

The Department of Rehabilitation places a high priority on providing services to youth and students with disabilities, to ensure they receive the training and other support they need in order to obtain competitive integrated employment.

To support this, it mandates that vocational rehabilitation agencies provide pre-employment services and serve eligible students.

Pre-employment services in the Student Services Plan are designed to help students transition from school to activities after graduation, leading to competitive integrated employment and economic self-sufficiency.

These services help students explore and prepare themselves for employment by providing experiences and developing foundational skills that will increase their likelihood of finding employment and a substantial gainful occupation.

reaching new heights by recruiting the assistance of volunteers

Helping students with disabilities to succeed

Surplus Service is proud of its direct collaboration with the Department of Rehabilitation in providing work experience and opportunities to students with disabilities.

We have worked with students each year, and we have helped many find meaningful careers using the knowledge and experience gained from working at Surplus Service. We offer comprehensive training and guidance to create a working environment that allows students to reach their full potential.

Students can expand their skills and experience by learning to do data entry, blogging, marketing, business development, and IT refurbishment and repair. They can also learn Excel, ERP, and CRM.

Our students are incredibly hardworking and focused, and they have made meaningful contributions to the day-to-day operation and growth strategies of our company.

The Department of Rehabilitation benefits our community in many different ways.

Citizens who are economically independent and self-sufficient contribute to the health of the local economy.

A skilled and educated workforce will reduce unemployment and create a competent workforce.

A skilled and experienced workforce is a great source of innovation, especially in the rapidly evolving world of technology. Silicon Valley is the center of this.
