POSITION: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

OUR COMPANY
Surplus Service, located in Fremont, CA, is an e-waste management and liquidation company in the San Francisco Bay Area that specializes in a variety of electronic disposal services. We put an emphasis on reuse over recycling, a practice known as upcycling. As the UpcyclIT® leader, our goal is to provide eco-friendly solutions that lead to the reuse of electronics. DESCRIPTION
We seek a Business Development Manager (BDM) who can expand the company’s business through deepening customer relationships and works to secure new accounts. Ideally, the BDM has experience with technology lifecycle and its economic value.

Prior experience as account executive, sales manager, technical sales manager and other business development roles are very helpful to the success at this opportunity.

This position reports directly to the President.

REQUIREMENTS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The ideal candidate will a “hunter” type and take responsibility for sourcing leads, identifying and securing customers, and negotiating and closing contracts related to the recycling, refurbishing, and reselling of IT assets.
  • Work with senior management to develop goals and strategies for expanding business.
  • Create and present periodic reports detailing sales and gross profit development as well as non-sales development metrics.
  • Follow up on open quotes and business opportunities.
  • We are looking for business development manager who must be able to develop rapport and long-term partnerships with “C” level executives.
  • Prospective clients include: medium to large enterprise high technology, OEM’s, telecom, networking, medical professionals, universities and schools, government, and retail organizations disposing of equipment like instruments, computers, phone systems, servers, liquidations and e-waste etc.
  • The BDM is an important member of the team and must be willing to help us improve business practices.
  • Must have experience building scalable sales organization and able to report meaningful metrics.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with IT hardware/electronics and components.
  • Minimum 2 years of demonstrated outside sales leadership experience in complex selling to technology, schools and colleges, government, retail, non-profit, manufacturing, recycle, etc. facilities. Previous recycle or reverse logistics is a big plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Industrial Technology, Information Technology, or similar course of study. Can be a combination of training, education and relevant work experience.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills are required.

COMPENSATION
Compensation is a base with commission/bonus tied to the sale of goods sourced. We also offer a profit sharing plan.

POSITION: ELECTRONICS REPAIR TECHNICIAN

DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a hands-on person who is technically proficient at repairing multiple types of equipment, hardware, software, devices and electronics. A true geeky interest in various types of equipment will help your success.

Prior experience as IT repair technician, final test technician, equipment configuration specialist, medical equipment repair, network / system administrator or other equipment repair roles are very helpful to the success at this opportunity.

REQUIREMENTS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Check, sort, and triage incoming inventory for resale value and ensure that it meets with the company’s selling criteria.
  • Perform initial functional test on items and diagnose the equipment, if nonfunctional and needs repair.
  • Make repairs as appropriate based on diagnostic evaluation.
  • Take electronics apart and put back together with new or used parts.
  • Load software, operating system, as required.
  • Research and prepare items for sale to secondary market.
  • Performs general cleaning of work area to ensure safety and discards all scrap material.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent with some college education is preferred.
  • Enthusiasm passion and desire to work with and fix electronics.
  • A+ certified on Computer, Network and or Security repair preferred.
  • Knowledge of electronics theory and equipment used in the repair of electronic components.
  • Knowledge of circuit board soldering and repair techniques.
  • Knowledge of process flows to include flow charts and written processes.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Be able to define problems, and collect data to determine required repairs and methods
  • Advanced familiarity with IT equipment such as PC, network equipment, server, switches, gaming consoles etc.
  • Ability to follow direction, multitask and work independently and with our team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient organization and communication skills.

COMPENSATION
Competitive base with bonus potential. There is also a profit sharing plan. This is a full-time career position with the opportunity to work for a growing well-established electronics surplus company.

POSITION: GENERAL MANAGER

DESCRIPTION
The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the day-to-day, the long-term operations and financial management of Surplus Service’s UpcyclIT business. This includes supervision and execution of all phases of sales, production, collection, materials handling, processing, shipping, transportation, quality control, inventory and receiving.

The GM is responsible for meeting business objectives including revenue targets, expense management, green practices and continuous quality improvement. In addition, this position is responsible for the hiring and development of staff and providing on-the-job training for new and existing employees. The GM will work closely with the team to improve efficiencies and increase overall profitability and is accountable for business results. This position is focused on customers and their needs to achieve all expectations and to drive best-in-class operations.

To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate a passion for the environment and a desire to push for new sustainable solutions.

REQUIREMENTS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In coordination with management, oversee day-to-day operations, reporting; meet contractual and customer obligations and P&L budgets.
  • Focus on meticulous management of internet and warehouse sales team to meet revenue goals and budgets.
  • Lead the decision-making processes in a chaotic small business environment.
  • Ensure operational schedules are met and any issues are resolved quickly.
  • Oversee all pricing decisions.
  • Provide timely data tracking, reporting and contract management to meet internal and client needs.
  • Maintains accurate daily, monthly, annual records, financials and reports i.e. inventory, sales, Quickbooks. Manage company payroll
  • Supervise and manage a diverse workforce. Mentor, train, and coach personnel to achieve maximum productivity.
  • Provide leadership to teams that enables the successful operations with a focus on continuous improvement and development.
  • Work with team to direct and control the facilities, receiving, repair, production, inventory, shipping and order processing in a timely manner. This includes quality, detailed operational Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), and cost performance through evaluating results and taking actions to continually improve performance.
  • Manage the planning and utilization of Lean, R2, ISO and continuous improvement to ensure sustained productivity enhancement.
  • Ensure safety procedures are being followed in operations and especially working equipment, trucks, truck routes, loading docks, forklifts, etc. Keep facility at optimal performance/efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance for all regulatory requirements, registrations, permits and records. Manage compliance with relevant regulatory authorities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering/Information Technology/Engineering or years of expertise in Operations/Facilities Management. Can be a combination of training, education and relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management and demonstrated leadership experience in complex manufacturing, recycle, warehousing, material handling and logistics techniques etc. including implementing cost control and savings plans. Previous recycle or reverse logistics management experience is a plus.
  • Experience in using a complex Inventory system and P&L.
  • Exceptional customer service and sales skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to implement lean-green, R2, ISO principles is preferred
  • Strong interest in green business, recycling and repurposing diversion from waste stream
  • Previous e-commerce operational understanding/experience is a plus

COMPENSATION
Compensation is a base with uncapped incentives tied to P&L, sales, operations, revenue and performance indicators. We also offer a profit sharing plan.

POSITION: INTERNET SALES MANAGER

DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a hands-on Internet sales manager to work with online customers to sell surplus, returned goods, obsolete and overstock merchandise via the Internet. This position is responsible for all aspects of internet marketing and sales, including, but not limited to writing merchandise descriptions, posting merchandise on the web, managing inquiries, demonstrations, selling products, and sourcing materials for re-sale.

Prior experience as account executive, inside sales, technical sales manager and other Internet sales roles are very helpful to the success at this opportunity.

REQUIREMENTS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Help develop and implement an internet marketing strategies for sales, sourcing, marketing products and solutions
  • Research items, take photos and write accurate descriptions of items for the internet posting
  • Source low-cost merchandise that we can buy and sell at a profit
  • Monitor and reply to bids and sales of products online with outstanding customer service skills
  • Provide timely daily sales, inventory and any other required reporting
  • Analyze various lots of merchandise for quoting purposes in a timely fashion
  • Meet quota and budget goals

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s Degree, with technical/electronics course work preferred. Can be a combination of training, education and relevant work experience.
  • 2 years online merchandising, direct marketing and web experience preferred. Experience buying and selling on the Internet i.e. eBay Gold Seller, etc. a big plus.
  • Experience with prospecting, identifying, qualifying, negotiating and closing sales.
  • Ability to explain and write technical topics to non-technical people.
  • General knowledge and interest in electronics and technology is a plus.
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Digital photography proficiency and post processing capabilities are highly desirable.
  • Strong follow up, organizational, multi-tasking, verbal and written communication and teamwork skills required.
  • Experience with Social Media and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a plus.
  • Excels in a chaotic environment and has experience creating and implementing processes from scratch.
